Residents of St. Paul cherish that, unlike other urban cities, their home is an unusually charming city of neighborhoods, each offering interesting places to explore. Today the area is richly festooned with small liberal arts colleges like Concordia University, maintaining a close community with urban city amenities. Locals take pride in the city’s favorite sons, renowned author F. Scott Fitzgerald and Peanuts cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, by displaying giant Peanut sculptures around the city and hosting events celebrating the Snoopy family. Hot spots like the Artists’ Quarter, a well-known downtown jazz club and O’Garas, an Irish pub with live shows showcase the artsy community. With popular boutiques and amazing eateries like the original Dunn Brother’s Coffee and the premier bakery Breadsmith, residents need not go further than Grand Avenue to shop and dine. Just around the corner, the Cathedral Hill area is home to the Saint Paul Curling Club, the largest member-owned club in the United States. With over 160 parks, three pristine golf courses, the Como Park Zoo, and a public beach, there is limitless fun for outdoor enthusiasts. The St. Paul community works together to protect their natural resources with environmental programs like Care For A Park and popular Earth Day events. Celebrate Saint Paul’s history, appreciate renowned artwork, and bring the powerful gift of performing arts to your family and friends by visiting excellent venues like the Science Museum of Minnesota, Children’s Museum, and annual Flint Hills International Children’s Festival. Saint Paul certainly provides for the avid shopper! Bloomington’s Mall of America boasts over five hundred stores, and with an indoor amusement park as well, it does not disappoint. Perhaps catching a baseball game by the Northern League Champions the Saint Paul Saints is more your style; if so, Midway Stadium is the place to be. The nearby Xcel Energy Center hosts the Minnesota Swarm lacrosse team and Minnesota Wild Ice Hockey for hometown sports fans. With so many interesting places to visit, the light rail transit system provides for convenient sightseeing, and the downtown area is connected by a skyway system for easy pedestrian travel. Saint Paul is quieter and more conservative than its Twin City Minneapolis, but residents know that whether they spend a night out on the town or an afternoon in one of their peacefully scenic parks- there is no better place to call home.

Travel Auctions-Fun Way to Bargain Travel

By now you’ve probably used an online booking site like Expedia or Travelocity. These sites are easy to use and often offer great deals on travel packages, hotels, car rentals, and flights. But, there is an even more fun and easy way to book your travels online! Consider participating in a travel auction! Online travel auction sites allow users to bid on a variety of travel deals and may offer greater savings than other online travel sites. Just like any other auction site, users search for and then bid on specific “items” during the bidding period, when the bidding period ends the user with the highest bid wins the item. Typically, travel details are entered after a winner is chosen.

Here are some helpful tips for using a travel auction site:

*Be patient. Travel auction sites are getting very popular and some people are bidding way over cost but deals can still be found if you are patient.

*Read all the fine print, as there may be taxes and fees that can increase the price. Sometimes the increase can be quite significant so you should consider the total cost (after tax and fees) when bidding for an item.

*Be flexible. Travel auctions are not ideal for travelers that require traveling on specific dates. Sometimes you may purchase the item and then chose dates at a later date.

*It may be helpful to know on average what the cost would be through a travel agent or other site. If the bids get too high, it may be easier to go elsewhere.

*See if there are any auction alert systems available on the site. Use this function to track your auctions. If available, it may be beneficial to see how items have been selling in the past. This can help you establish a maximum bidding price.

Sometimes booking travel and planning may be boring and tedious but with travel auctions, you can have fun while getting a great deal. To get started check out skyauctions.com!
